site.btaKazanlak to Host Forum Promoting Agricultural Heritage of Rose Valley
The municipality of Kazanlak is set to host a discussion dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the Rose Valley's agricultural intangible cultural heritage in the context of UNESCO lists and the Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) programme, the municipal administration announced on Monday. The forum is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Bulgarian National Association for Essential Oils, Perfumery and Cosmetics and will take place Monday in the Ivan Milev Hall at the Cultural and Information Centre.
According to the municipal press centre, representatives of local and state authorities, rose growers, processors and industry organizations are expected to attend the forum, which aims to identify opportunities for regional and international cooperation, as well as raise the international profile of the Rose Valley.
In July 2025, the Municipality of Kazanlak participated in the international forum "The Moment of Lavender 2025" in Grasse, France, where the results of a study proving the natural origin of Damask rose essential oil were presented, as reported by BTA. This study was commissioned by the local administration in Kazanlak and conducted in connection with the upcoming European Regulation on the classification, labelling and packaging of chemicals (CLP), which calls into question the natural origin of essential oils.
Over the past two years, Kazanlak has hosted a series of discussions and forums on this topic.
