The film Nina Rosa, featuring Bulgarian participation, has been selected for the main competition programme of the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), whose official line-up was announced on Tuesday.
Nina Rosa is a co-production between Canada, Italy, Bulgaria and Belgium, directed by Geneviève Dulude-De Celles. Bulgaria is represented through co-producer Lyubomira Piperova (Ginger Light), according to the National Film Center. The film stars Galin Stoev in the lead role, with supporting performances by Bulgarian actors including Mishel Tsonchev, Sofia and Ekaterina Stanina, and Svetlana Yancheva. The film has already won two awards at Locarno First Look 2025.
The 76th Berlinale will take place from February 12 to 22, 2026, with German director Wim Wenders serving as president of the international jury.
In addition to Nina Rosa, Bulgaria will be represented at the festival with two more productions. Ralitsa Petrova’s feature film Lust, a Bulgarian-Danish-Swedish co-production, has been selected for the Forum section, while the Romanian-Bulgarian children’s film Atlas of the Universe will be screened in the Generation Kplus programme.
Bulgarian critic, poet and animator Ani Stoeva has also been selected for Berlinale Talents 2026, which will bring together 200 emerging filmmakers for discussions and workshops from February 13 to 18.
Bulgaria will further strengthen its presence at the Berlinale through a national stand at the European Film Market, aimed at promoting international cooperation and distribution of Bulgarian cinema, said the National Film Centre.
