Security Council Reviews 2024 National Security Report, Focuses on Global and Regional Risks

Under the leadership of outgoing Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, a meeting of the Security Council at the Council of Ministers was held, at which the Annual Report on the State of National Security of the Republic of Bulgaria for 2024 was adopted.

During the meeting, Council members conducted an in-depth review of the current situation in Venezuela and the potential risks it poses to regional and global security, as well as expected geopolitical developments related to Greenland.

Particular attention was paid to the situation in Iran, the country’s internal political processes, and their implications for stability in the Middle East.

The participants also discussed possible scenarios for the development of the war in Ukraine, diplomatic efforts to achieve a sustainable peace, and the impact of these developments on European and international security. In this context, the importance of Bulgaria maintaining a coordinated and consistent approach within allied frameworks was emphasized.

Outgoing Prime Minister Zhelyazkov assured the participants that the government would continue to closely monitor all processes related to Bulgaria’s national security.
