American guitarist Marc Ribot will give a solo concert on February 4 in Sofia at Prostranstvo 108, the concert venue at 108 G. S. Rakovski Street, the organizers from Alarma Punk Jazz said.

In 2025, the musician released the album Map of a Blue City, in which, after Songs of Resistance (2018), he returns to the song form, following his personal and civic maxim: "I sing only in times of emergency."

Marc Ribot was born in 1954 in New Jersey. His discography includes a wide range of solo guitar albums, among them The Book of Heads (with music by John Zorn), Marc Ribot Plays Solo Guitar Works of Frantz Casseus, Saints, Don't Blame Me, Exercises in Futility, and Silent Movies.

His guitar can be heard on albums by John Zorn, and he is Tom Waits’s favourite guitarist and close friend, having played on Waits’s albums for four decades. In the 1980s, Ribot was the guitarist for John Lurie’s group The Lounge Lizards, and some of his most notable own projects over the years include Marc Ribot y Los Cubanos Postizos, Ceramic Dog, The Young Philadelphians, and Spiritual Unity.

Ribot's guitar can also be heard in projects by Elvis Costello, Susana Baca, Arto Lindsay, Vinicius Cantuaria, Elton John, McCoy Tyner, Mdou Moctar, Robert Plant, John Medeski, and Mike Patton.
