A protest action was held outside the home of GERB leader Boyko Borissov, GERB MP Toma Bikov said in a video on the party’s Facebook page on Thursday.
Standing in front of Borissov’s house, Bikov said that shortly beforehand there had been a provocation by a group he refused to identify, adding that he did not know whether it was a party or a pyramid scheme.
Bikov was referring to the political party Velichie, whose supporters are protesting pre-trial proceedings into an alleged organized criminal group formed around Historical Park, founded by Velichie chair and Floor Leader Ivelin Mihaylov, and suspected of profit-driven offences such as embezzlement, fraud and money laundering between 2013 and 2025.
Together with GERB’s youth wing and fellow party members, Bikov said they wanted to send a clear signal that this would be the last time such a provocation took place there. From now on, he said, they would not tolerate similar actions outside any of their homes, because politics belonged in the political arena, not on the doorstep where their children and families lived.
He said they had no objection to anyone taking a civic stand, protesting, arguing with them or holding different views, but insisted that this must remain within the bounds of normality and the law. What they rejected, he said, were theatrical stunts and deliberate provocations aimed solely at harassing people who had nothing to do with the political debate, such as their families.
From now on they would respond firmly and appropriately, Bikov said.
