Speaking from the parliamentary tribune on Thursday, Velichie MP Maria Ilieva dismissed as unfounded the accusations of document forgery made against her by MECh leader Radostin Vasilev. “The accusations of document forgery, as well as the claims that some of us were elected illegally, are baseless. They come from MECh and, more specifically, from Vasilev, who has turned the National Assembly tribune into a stage for personal battles, intrigues, and political theatre,” Ilieva said.
On Wednesday, Vasilev played a recording in Parliament which, in his words, incriminates Stiliana Bobcheva MP of Velichie in document fraud. Vasilev called on the prosecution service and the Central Election Commission (CEC) to take immediate action. Vasilev alleged that Bobcheva had falsified Ilieva’s declaration and those of other parliamentary candidates.
According to Ilieva, such behaviour by Vasilev and his allies not only undermines parliamentary principles but replaces them with their own interpretation of justice. “The National Assembly is not a court; it has no authority to investigate election documents, to remove MPs, or to deliver verdicts from the tribune,” Ilieva emphasized.
“The content of my declaration is entirely true, and it was personally signed by me,” she added.
“The documents you wave in front of the cameras contain my personal data – for which you will bear responsibility. Where did you obtain them? Perhaps you are the ‘button that needs to be pushed’ to release recordings you constantly make when someone becomes inconvenient or refuses to follow a given script,” she said.
Ilieva accused Vasilev of handling materials of unclear origin and status, whose authenticity has not been verified by any institution. “If you have any claims, refer them to the competent authorities. Do not waste the time of Parliament and the Bulgarian people with your circus - it must stop. Everything else is just distraction, noise, and theatre,” Ilieva emphasized.
In response, Radostin Vasilev said that a formal report had been submitted to the prosecution service, Parliament, and other relevant institutions, including the declaration he had shown. He said that the document had been provided by whistleblower and witness Grigor Zdravkov to the prosecution. According to Vasilev, Zdravkov received the declaration from Stiliana Bobcheva to deliver it to Plovdiv for the registration of an election list, and the act was carried out in front of the witness, who recorded it.
“I have no doubt that you are a fraudster and that Bobcheva is a forger. You have committed a document crime. Since there is no prosecution or functioning authority, I am the exposer,” Vasilev stressed.
