Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh) leader Radostin Vasilev Wednesday played an audio recording from the parliamentary rostrum which, in his words, incriminates Stiliana Bobcheva MP of Velichie in document fraud. Vasilev called on the prosecution service and the Central Election Commission (CEC) to take immediate action.
"We will now play a recording from the scene of the crime in Sofia - a recording in which we hear the confessions of Stiliana Bobcheva MP of Velichie, who falsified the declaration of Maria Ilieva and many other candidates on electoral lists in Sofia’s constituencies," Vasilev said in a declaration.
"From the recording, you will learn the date - September 24, 2024 - the time, the place, and the perpetrator of the document fraud. I call on the prosecution service and the CEC to act immediately, because this is a major case of fraud, and there is an entire illegitimate parliamentary group in Parliament," he added. The MECh leader said that the original recording is 42 minutes long and described it as "shocking." He said that "the witness to the crime" will provide it as evidence once summoned by the prosecution service, "but so far, the prosecution service has remained silent."
"I am saying from the rostrum today that [Velichie leader] Ivelin Mihaylov also failed to complete his paperwork, so he is not a legitimate MP," Vasilev said. "If Maria Ilieva has any conscience left, she should resign today. Krasimira Katincharova - with her fraudulent son - should have resigned long ago," he added. Vasilev said that the prosecution service must immediately revoke Bobcheva’s parliamentary immunity and the Velichie parliamentary group must be dissolved. "In my opinion, such fraudsters have never before appeared in the Bulgarian Parliament," he said.
"Today, the MECh party stands before the public to state clearly and unequivocally that elections are no longer a competition of ideas but a theater of deception; that politics no longer serves the people but has become a front for greed. The masks of concern hide the faces of greedy fraudsters, ready to do anything to keep what they have stolen," Vasilev said.
He recalled that just days earlier, MECh had shown "people who had been deceived by the group connected to Ivelin Mihaylov and had reached out to MECh in desperation."
