A photo and documentary exhibition at the Vladislav Varnenchik Park-Museum presents memorial signs of the Battle of Varna, which took place in 1444, Museum Director Milen Dimov said here on Monday.

The exhibition presents the chronology of the construction and installation of the memorial signs that immortalized the memory of the battle which united Central and Southeastern Europe against the Ottoman Empire. The exhibition also traces the path from the creation of the memorial complex at the site of the battle, its enrichment and the beginning of the museum exhibition. Dimov emphasized that the creation of the park-museum is a national cause that meets a wide public response. The exhibition shows the first memorials, including the destroyed monument, erected in 1856 by Polish soldiers under the command of Count Władysław Zamoyski, with which they expressed the respect of their people for Władysław III of Poland and the knights who died with him.

The exhibition also has a special place for the individuals who contributed to the artistic design of the signs and symbols, including Anton Novak, Kamen Goranov and Georgi Bogdanov.
