The largest expenditure item in Bulgaria’s draft budget for 2026 is capital spending related to the implementation of reforms and investments under the national Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), whose execution is due to conclude after August 2026, said Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova on Tuesday. She was speaking at a press conference held within the high-level forum “Bulgaria on the Doorstep of the Eurozone.”

According to Petkova, the budget parameters have been drawn up on the basis of current legislation, which is duly reflected in the draft. She added that debates on the 2026 State Budget Bill are yet to take place, with the issue scheduled for discussion on Wednesday at a meeting of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation.
