Sv Sv Kiril i Metodii - Antarctic expedition - Day 6: Strait of Sicily-Malta
The Mediterranean, January 1, 2023. On day 6 of its voyage to Antarctica, at 14:00 hrs Bulgarian time the military research vessel "Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii" is located at some 100 nautical miles from the strait between Sicily and Malta. From there, the ship will be steered in a west-northwestern direction, proceeding to the first stopover on its route: Cartagena. The "Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii is expected to arrive in the Spanish port city in the late evening of January 5. The ship's first historic voyage to Livingston Island in the South Shetlands is expected to take some 40 days. The purpose is to assist the 31st Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition. The vessel sailed from Varna (on the Black Sea) on December 27.
