Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev sent a congratulatory address to the participants and organizers of the ninth edition of the international Bulgarian language reading competition for first and second grade students abroad Az Buki Vedi. The event took place on Saturday at the Bulgarian Embassy in London. The congratulatory address was read by Asen Petrov, state expert in the Department of Education of Bulgarians Abroad at the Ministry of Education.
“Dear organizers, dear students, I warmly congratulate you on the ninth edition of the international Bulgarian language reading competition for first and second grade students,” the address reads. It recalls that the competition began nine years ago at the Bulgarian Sunday school Az Buki Vedi in Cologne. According to the minister, the competition has been gaining popularity ever since.
This competition is a significant initiative that not only motivates and inspires young Bulgarians to enrich their language skills, but also strengthens their connection with their native culture, said Valchev’s message. According to him, Az Buki Vedi also gives teachers and parents the opportunity to engage in the modern learning process and strengthen their identity while living outside Bulgaria.
