The film “PThe Varna Necropolis Power and Gold” from the Bulgarian National Television series “Tourism.BG” was awarded at the International Tourism Film Festival (ITFF) in Johannesburg, South Africa. The award ceremony took place on June 6. The Bulgarian film was awarded a silver prize in the Culture and Heritage category, the award was received by a representative of the Bulgarian Embassy in Pretoria, the diplomatic mission said.
“The Varna Necropolis Power and Gold” by Bela Karagyozova is dedicated to the history of one of the most significant archaeological discoveries and considered the oldest gold treasure, a product of human civilization. The gold artifacts from the Varna Necropolis date back to the 5th millennium BC and are the work of an advanced civilization that flourished along the Black Sea coast of Northern Bulgaria. The film traces the origins and evolution of a culture that reached a high level of economic, social and religious life, suggesting a differentiation of lifestyle and wealth of the population," said the team from the Bulgarian Embassy in Pretoria.
Among the other awardees in this year's Johannesburg International Tourism Film Festival are films from Cyprus, Slovakia, the US and the UK.
