A double premiere of books dedicated to the history, traditions and identity of the Bulgarian communities in Ukraine and Moldova took place at the Hristo Botev Library in Chisinau. The event was held within the framework of the Bulgarian Hearth Club and brought together researchers, representatives of the Bulgarian diaspora and readers interested in cultural heritage, the reading room team said.

The event was moderated by Ivan Duminica, Doctor of historical sciences and head of the Scientific Society of Bulgarians in Moldova, as well as a representative of the Moldovan Ministry of Education.

One of the presented book was Traditions, Memory, Identity of Bulgarians in Ukraine and Moldova by Dr. Galin Georgiev from the Historical Ethnology section at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, as well as the head of the Rodolyubets Society for Relations with Bessarabian and Taurian Bulgarians. The scientist came from Sofia for the event. The focus of his book is field research on traditional customs, mechanisms for preserving collective memory and Bulgarian identity in Bessarabia.

The second book, Kairaklia: Family Trees, is dedicated to the history of families in the village of Kairaklia. The publication was presented by Bulgarian Municipality in the Republic of Moldova Secretary Nina Topalova. She said that the book includes extensive genealogical information about the inhabitants of the village, as well as descriptions of family stories and significant historical events. She stressed that working on the book was an important step towards preserving the memory of the birthplace.
