site.btaBulgaria Marks Valour Day with Wreath-Laying for 1,027 WWII Dead in Vukovar


A wreath-laying ceremony took place Wednesday at the Bulgarian military cemetery in Vukovar, where the remains of 1,027 Bulgarian officers and soldiers who lost their lives in the final phase of World War II are interred.
The ceremony marked the Valour Day and Bulgarian Armed Forces Day on May 6, the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, and the 140th anniversary of the Serbo-Bulgarian War.
Bulgarian Ambassador to Croatia Iva Kruleva, a delegation from the Bulgarian Ministry of Defence, representatives of the Union of War Veterans, the Union of Officers and Sergeants in Reserve, and the Georgi Benkovski Bulgarian Air Force Academy, participating in the military-historical march “In the Footsteps of the First Bulgarian Army”, and members of the Bulgarian community in Croatia, attended the ceremony.
