The Bulgarian Embassy in Slovenia and the Forum of Slavic Cultures (FSC) co-hosted a New Year’s reception for the organization’s partners on January 8, 2026 at the Bulgarian diplomatic mission in Ljubljana. For the second consecutive year, the event was held at the embassy and guests were welcomed by Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Slovenia, Krasimir Bozhanov, and FSC Director Dr. Andreja Rihter, according to a post on the Embassy website.
In his address, Ambassador Bozhanov highlighted Bulgaria’s active participation in the forum’s numerous projects and expressed confidence that cooperation would continue to expand in 2026. He wished the partners a productive year filled with cultural events, noting the value of the established partnership. As the embassy summarized his remarks, he stressed the importance of sustained collaboration, saying he hoped the interaction “will continue to develop in 2026, wishing guests a fruitful year rich in cultural initiatives.”
Dr. Rihter thanked the Bulgarian Embassy for co-hosting the reception and outlined key FSC initiatives over the past year, including the 20th anniversary of the “100 Slavic Novels” series, which now features more than 40 authors and has included Bulgaria since 2023 with Zdravka Evtimova’s novel Thursday. She also highlighted the expanded European project “Slawa – Slavic Authors to the World,” the annual Ziva Museum Awards, recently granted to museums in Ruse, Gabrovo, and Shumen, and strengthened cooperation with UNESCO’s Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Sofia. The reception featured a cultural program by Bulgarian violinist Tamara Bakardzhieva of the Maribor Opera and Ballet Symphony Orchestra and was attended by ambassadors from Slavic countries, Slovenian cultural officials, academics, writers, and publishers engaged in projects involving Bulgarian culture and literature.
