The Markoni Balneo Hotel in Pavel Banya is fully booked for months in advance every year, which proves that this is one of the established spa and rehabilitation complexes in the country, general manager Georgi Paunov told BTA. According to him, the success of Markoni is due to the combination of the healing properties of the mineral water in Pavel Banya, the high level of balneological services, the maintained base and the long-term experience of the team.

Markoni is at the heart of the development of private spa treatment in Pavel Banya, continuing to maintain the highest level of service, Paunov said. This is also the first site of a company that subsequently developed the qualities of the product in the DianaMar and Grand Hotel Knyaz Pavel complexes. The manager emphasized that the contribution to the creation, operation and maintenance of the medical centre in the three spa hotels belongs to Dr. Miroslav Minev.

The main priority of the Avicenna - Markoni Medical Centre is the practice of physical and rehabilitation medicine according to standard, Paunov pointed out. The centre is certified to perform diagnostics, prevention and treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system, degenerative and inflammatory joint conditions, post-traumatic and orthopedic problems, as well as diseases of the peripheral nervous system.

Markoni also has a full range of balneology and SPA services - a hydrotherapy sector with multifunctional baths, a mineral pool with a temperature of 36C, suitable for underwater gymnastics and swimming, as well as a modernly equipped sector for kinesitherapy, electrotherapy and heat therapy. The SPA area includes a sauna, infrared cabin, Turkish bath, jacuzzi and relaxation facilities.

The hotel has about 30 rooms, which contributes to its coziness and personal attitude to each guest, the manager also pointed out. The interest is so high that occupancy exceeds 100% on an annual basis, and the stay rarely remains within the standard seven days, with a large part of the guests being regular visitors, Paunov noted.

"For us, the most important thing is to provide quality and proven medical procedures, performed by qualified specialists," he further commented. He noted that Pavel Banya has proven itself over the years as a balneological resort, and the qualities of the mineral water in the region are without equivalent. Therefore, the owners of such complexes should strive to maintain the high level of medical procedures for the good name of the resort.

BTA presents news from certified spa, wellness, and medical spa centres in Bulgaria in its BG SPA: Salus per aquam, Health Through Water feature. Their total number exceeds 200. The initiative, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism, is linked to Europe's leading health tourism event, the HEALTHXCHANGE SUMMIT, which will be held from May 11 to 13, 2026, in Varna, Sts. Constantine and Helena, Golden Sands, and Albena. BTA will be the event's main media partner.
