Bulgaria’s acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov is on a working visit to The Hague, where he will participate in the 19th Meeting of the Consultative Forum of the Prosecutors General and the Heads of Criminal Prosecutions of the EU Member States (Eurojust Consultative Forum), Sarafov’s office reported on Wednesday.
The forum is being held at the Eurojust headquarters and will be opened by the organization’s President, Michael Schmid.
During his visit to the Netherlands capital, Sarafov will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with leaders and representatives of European institutions.
A key focus of this year’s Consultative Forum programme is investigations related to violations and circumvention of the European Union’s sanctions against Russia, with updated information on their progress expected to be presented. Participants will also discuss the fight against organized crime, international online investment fraud, and other topics of mutual interest.
The Eurojust Consultative Forum has been functioning since 2010 within Eurojust — the judicial cooperation unit of the European Union — which aims to coordinate investigations, prosecutions, and cooperation between competent authorities of Member States in relation to serious cross-border and/or organized crime.
