It is essential to cherish the shared values of fundamental importance for humanity, according to the Foreign Minister of Oman, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, who received the Badge of Honour of the President of Bulgaria on Friday. The accolade comes in recognition of Al Busaidi’s decisive role in the release of Bulgarian sailors from the Galaxy Leader ship in January and of Oman’s overall contribution to peace and stability in the Middle East.

The diplomat said that human values should be appreciated in today’s troubled world as they transcend religious and ethnic identities, unite the people and reflect their shared humaneness.

“I am extremely honoured and humbled to receive the President’s Badge of Honour,” the Omani Foreign Minister said, describing Bulgaria as a historical, beautiful country. He said the Badge of Honour epitomizes the universal values we all share.

Al Busaidi has been on an official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev. This is the first visit by an Omani foreign minister to Bulgaria in the history of bilateral diplomatic relations.
