Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev left for a working visit to Washington, the Ministry’s press centre said on Tuesday. He will attend a US State Department ministerial conference on resurgence of political terrorism.
Demerdzhiev is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings aimed at strengthening cooperation in combating cross-border crime, money laundering and corruption.
On July 9, Demerdzhiev said he would travel to the United States for talks with the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) at the Department of the Treasury. He said they would discuss measures which can be taken against individuals and legal entities that have helped persons evade sanctions under the US Global Magnitsky Act.
