The Bulgarian national volleyball team was welcomed with a red carpet and an honor guard at Vasil Levski Airport in Sofia on Tuesday. The team returned on a government Airbus A319 flight from Istanbul, where earlier that morning they had been greeted by Youth and Sports Minister Ivan Peshev.

On Sunday, the Bulgarian national team, led by head coach Gianlorenzo Blengini, won silver medals at the Men’s World Championship in the Philippines.

First to disembark from the plane were Lyubomir Ganev, President of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, Gianlorenzo Blengini, the head coach, and Aleks Grozdanov, the team captain. Among those welcoming the team were Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov and National Teams Coordinator Nikolay Ivanov.

Upon their arrival, the players were each given a white rose, a wreath, and a cheque worth BGN 520,000, awarded by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
