Radoslav Rosenov and Rami Kiwan have made it into the top 8 in their respective weight categories at the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool. Both athletes will compete again on Wednesday.

Rosenov showed more aggression and speed than two-time European youth champion Aider Abduraimov and will face William Hewitt (England) in the quarterfinals. Hewitt eliminated the silver medalist from Paris 2024, Munarbek Uulu (Kyrgyzstan), with a narrow 3-2 split decision victory.

Kiwan closed the evening for the Bulgarian team with another dominant win, this time in the 75 kg category. In the next round, Kiwan will face the winner of the bout between Alan Perrie (Scotland) and Senad Drini (Albania).

Earlier today, teenage boxer Aleyna Mehmed lost her debut match in the women’s 80 kg category at the World Championships.
