The Ultimate Balchik Match Race 2025 International Regatta ended on Monday, with the Swiss team CER of Nelson Metro managing to prevail and grab the gold medals.
The second place went to Piotr Harasimowicz from Poland, while Samuel Karadzhiyan from the Port Burgas Yacht Club fought off challenger Mikhail Berberov from the Cap. Georgi Georgiev - Port Varna Yacht Club for third place.
The regatta took place from June 26 to 29 in Balchik, with the tournament including a qualifying stage, followed by semi-finals and final races. The final day saw races with high speed in a strong and gusty north-northwest wind, which reached 20-25 knots of gusts.
The judging panel was entrusted to authoritative international referees, with Luigi Bertini from Italy and Neven Baran from Croatia as water referees and Stanislav Viktorov as chief judge of the competition.
The Ultimate Balchik Match Race 2025 International Regatta was held for the second consecutive year by the Varna Ultramarine Sailing Sports Club, with the support of BORA Sailing. The competition is part of the calendar of the European Match Race Tour and the World Sailing (Grade 3).
