The first-ever European Rafting Championship in Bulgaria took place in Bansko from June 26 to June 28. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Great Britain, Latvia and Bulgaria shared the prize places in the championship events, said the Bansko Town Hall.

Teams from nine countries - Bosnia and Hercegovina, Bulgaria, the UK, Greece, Romania, Lithuania, Croatia, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Germany - competed in four events– Sprint, Head to Head, Slalom and Downhill.

The championship was organized by the Bulgarian Rafting Federation and the Bansko Town Hall, with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as the nearby municipalities of Kresna and Simitli.
