Bulgarians Dimitar Mehandzhiyski and Dimitar Kalchev won the bronze medals at the Sveti Vlas Futures beach volleyball tournament, part of the global Beach Pro Tour series, thus claiming the first-ever medal for Bulgaria in the series.

On Sunday afternoon, Mehandzhiyski and Kalchev overcame tough resistance from the second-seeded Italian duo Tiziano Andreatta and Davide Benzi. In a hard-fought third-place match, the Bulgarians triumphed 2:1 (23:21, 17:21, 15:12) after nearly an hour of play.

In the men’s tournament at Venid Beach in Sveti Vlas, the gold was claimed by Austria’s Laurenc Grossig and Mathias Seiser, while silver went to Djordje Klasnic and Marko Makaric of Serbia. In the women’s final, Ukrainians Yeva Serdiuk and Daria Romaniuk defeated compatriots Valentina Davidova and Anhelina Khmil, while the bronze was secured by Spain’s Sofia Izuzquiza and Ana Vergara.
