An international conference, iN Sofia 2025, opens in the Bulgarian capital on Friday, bringing together key European and Bulgarian institutions, business leaders and politicians to outline a new framework for a competitive and decarbonized European industry with Bulgaria's active participation.

The forum will focus on energy sovereignty, the green transition, access to raw materials and EU funding for industry.

With its Clean Industrial Deal, unveiled in 2024, the EU is seeking to accelerate Europe's industrial transformation. This move faces Bulgaria with a choice: to become an active participant or remain a bystander, said the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a partner of the event. The forum's organizers note that, at a time when technological and energy pressures are mounting, the question is no longer "whether we will change" but rather "how and with whom we will do it".

Among the expected participants are European Commissioner for Start-ups, Research and Innovation Ekaterina Zaharieva, Deputy Prime Minister and Innovation and Growth Minister Tomislav Donchev, Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov, Bulgarian MEPs Tsvetelina Penkova and Radan Kanev, European Commission representatives, deputy ministers and technology entrepreneurs and industrial leaders from Bulgaria.

Also invited are Assoc. Prof. Milena Angelova, Secretary General of the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association, and Angelin Tsachev, Executive Director of Electricity System Operator, among others.
