Deputy Prime Minister and Innovation and Growth Minister Tomislav Donchev visited the Samel-90 AD high-tech company in Samokov on Friday, where he got acquainted with the company's activities, the company said.
Donchev and company CEO Petar Georgiev discussed the possibilities for the participation of the Bulgarian industry in strategic defence projects. Bulgarian companies can be leaders in radio-electronic defence, anti-drone systems and drones, stated participants in the meeting. The focus of the conversation was on the potential of domestic companies to be leaders in the production of radio jammers, tactical drones and systems for countering unmanned aerial vehicles.
Attention was paid at the meeting to the need for Bulgarian companies to be the basis of future large orders for the needs of the army, as they generate added value in the country. The idea of Samel-90 applying for a class A investor certificate was supported, which would facilitate the implementation of new projects with a high economic and technological effect
The company is a supplier of specialized equipment to over 30 countries, including Egypt, India, Bahrain and Nigeria. In over ten of them, the company's products are used to protect heads of state. The technologies developed in Samokov are also used in humanitarian missions, police and military convoys.
Earlier this month, a delegation from Security and Defence Committee of European Parliament visited the company as well.
