The Ministry of Innovation and Growth has invited bids in a new funding procedure aimed at improving energy efficiency and promoting the use of renewable energy in Bulgarian companies. The initiative falls under the “Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises” Programme and has a total budget of BGN 126 million, the ministry said in a press release on Friday.
The measure continues efforts to help businesses achieve greater energy independence and reduce costs related to electricity, natural gas, liquid fuels, and other energy sources.
Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises are eligible to apply. The minimum funding per project is BGN 30,000, while the maximum is BGN 100,000.
The main purpose of the procedure is to support companies in acquiring energy-efficient equipment and systems that will enable them to generate and store their own electricity. The funding may be used to purchase, for example, heat pumps, waste heat recovery systems, energy-efficient insulation for buildings, photovoltaic panels, and local energy storage solutions such as batteries.
