site.btaAuthorities Act after Videos Show Vehicles Driving on Beaches

Following the appearance of videos on social media showing breaches of access rules on sea beaches, the Ministry of Tourism took immediate action. By order of the Minister of Tourism, Miroslav Borshosh, and in cooperation with the Varna Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, an inspection was carried out at Pasha Dere Beach. During the check, two motor vehicles were found driving on the sandy shore. One vehicle had Georgian registration plates, while the other was registered in Bulgaria. The owners were identified, one is a foreign national with permanent residence status in Bulgaria, and the other is a Bulgarian citizen of Armenian descent.
Both were issued administrative offence statements as per the Black Sea Coast Development Act. Fines of BGN 1,000 are expected to be imposed. Simultaneously, investigations have been launched under the Penal Code concerning hooliganism.
“We cannot allow such outrage on Bulgarian beaches. Anyone who thinks they can break the rules with impunity will receive a clear response — we will not allow it. The beaches belong to no one’s private domain; they are national assets that we will protect with the full force of the law,” Minister Borshosh stated, quoted in the press release. He emphasized that Bulgarian beaches require responsible behaviour and consistent enforcement measures. Inspections will continue, and every violation will be sanctioned according to the law.
