The number of first residence permits with a validity of at least three months issued to third-country nationals in 2024 was 19,662, a 1.5% increase compared to the previous year, the National Statistical Institute reported on Friday. The highest number of permits, or 8,653, were issued for work-related reasons, which marks a 33.8% increase year-on-year.

The second most common reason was related to family and resulted in 5,356 permits, a 13.1% drop from the previous year.

In 2024, 7,064 single permits for residence and work were issued in the country, marking a 64.3% increase compared to 2023.

In 2023, there were 19,375 first residence permits with a validity of at least three months issued to third-country nationals, a 22.3% increase from 2022.
