The May 2025 seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Bulgaria was 3.5%, up from 3.4% in April 2025 and down from 4% in May 2024. This means that an estimated 106,000 people were unemployed in Bulgaria which is 3,000 more than the previous month and 17,000 less than May 2024. The figures were published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union on Wednesday.

In May 2025, the euro area seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.3%, up from 6.2% in April 2025 and down from 6.4% in May 2024, Eurostat said on its website.

The EU unemployment rate was 5.9% in May 2025, stable compared with April 2025 and down from 6.0% in May 2024.

Eurostat estimated that 13,052,000 persons in the EU, of whom 10,830,000 in the euro area, were unemployed in May 2025.

Compared with April 2025, unemployment increased by 48,000 in the EU and by 54,000 in the euro area.

Compared with May 2024, unemployment decreased by 23,000 in the EU and by 168,000 in the euro area.
