Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov said here Tuesday that Bulgaria's fuel needs are fully met. “As Energy Minister, I want to emphasize that we are fully supplied with natural gas. We currently have deliveries through pipelines from Azerbaijan, as well as cargoes purchased earlier this month that will arrive at liquefied gas terminals on June 26 and 27,” Stankov said on the sidelines of a roundtable discussion Financing the Stone held at the Grand Hotel Millennium Sofia.

He reiterated that there is no direct threat to Bulgarian citizens from the Israel-Iran conflict.

He noted that the temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which affected oil prices, was concerning but that recent developments are reassuring. “I am personally calm about the situation over the last hours. I hope all conflicts will be resolved through negotiations. In the past 12 hours, Brent crude oil prices have fallen by more than 10%, which is also reassuring,” Stankov said.

The Minister assured that Bulgaria is fully secured with fuels, including gasoline, diesel, and propane-butane. The Ministry of Energy maintains constant communication with the Bulgarian Petroleum and Gas Association.

Regarding retail fuel prices, Stankov expects a reversal toward lower prices after recent increases of BGN 0.03 to BGN 0.07 per liter.

On the topic of radiation levels, the minister said that the radiation background is monitored every four hours by Bulgarian authorities, and the country also receives regular updates from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about developments outside Bulgaria.

“For now, everything is normal and there are no concerns. Bulgarian citizens should remain calm,” Stankov concluded.
