The scheduled annual maintenance of Unit 5 of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant was completed on June 11. The unit was reconnected to the national grid after an inspection and a positive assessment by the Nuclear Regulatory Agency, the plant's press office said.
All scheduled maintenance and servicing tasks were completed as planned. Safety enhancement measures aimed at ensuring the unit's long-term operation were also implemented as scheduled.
During the maintenance, which began on May 5, fresh RWFA fuel assemblies manufactured by Westinghouse were loaded into the reactor. According to the Kozloduy NPP, the reliable operation of Unit 5 following the first refuelling with the new fuel type in the spring of 2024 confirms the successful implementation of the plant's fuel diversification programme.
