The Industrial Production Index in Bulgaria in April 2025 increased by 0.8% compared to the previous month, according to preliminary and seasonally adjusted data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI). Compared to April 2024, a decrease of 10.4% was recorded in the calendar-adjusted industrial production index.
In April 2024, the indicator marked a growth of 3.3% month-to-month. Compared to April 2023, a decrease of 0.3% was recorded, according to a report from the NSI.
Monthly changes
In April 2025, compared to March 2025, a 54% growth was recorded in the production and distribution of electricity, heat and gas, while a decrease was observed in the processing and extractive industries, by 1.8% and 1.6%, respectively.
In the manufacturing industry, a decline was recorded in: the production of computer and communication equipment, electronic and optical products (by 16.8%), the production of other non-metallic mineral products (by 8.2%) and the production of furniture (by 7.8%).
A more significant growth was recorded in the production of vehicles, excluding cars (by 27.7%), in the production of tobacco products (by 17%), and in production not classified elsewhere (by 16.3%).
Annual changes
Year on year, a decline in industrial production, calculated from calendar-adjusted data, was recorded in the production and distribution of electricity, heat and gas (by 18.7%), in the manufacturing industry (by 7%) and in the mining industry (by 3.9%).
A significant decline in the manufacturing industry compared to April 2024 was registered in the production of basic metals (by 38.6%), and in the production of paper, cardboard and paper and cardboard products (by 24.1%).
A 49.8% growth was recorded in the production of tobacco products, as well as in the production of electrical equipment, by 20.3%.
