The Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association (BICA) and the Migration Agency of Uzbekistan have signed a cooperation agreement in the field of labor migration, the Association said here Sunday. According to BICA, the agreement lays the foundation for a long-term partnership between the two parties, aiming to facilitate and regulate the processes involved in hiring workers from Uzbekistan in Bulgaria.

According to data from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the Bulgarian Employment Confederation, around 15,000 Uzbek citizens are currently working in Bulgaria.

The agreement was signed following a working meeting between BICA representatives and a delegation from Uzbekistan, led by the head of the Migration Agency, Bekhzod Musayev. The main focus of the discussions was establishing effective mechanisms for the pre-verification of qualifications and easing administrative procedures for hiring foreign workers.

“BICA welcomes the opportunity to build strong ties with Uzbekistan and to work together to ensure the legal employment of qualified personnel in a safe and secure environment. Bulgarian businesses need both seasonal workers in tourism and services, as well as skilled professionals in sectors such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and electronics,” said BICA’s Chairman of the Management Board, Rumen Radev.

Bekhzod Musayev noted that Uzbekistan is actively working to diversify the geography of its labour migration and is keen to develop sustainable partnerships with countries like Bulgaria. “Uzbekistan is interested in accelerating the process of labor migration to Bulgaria. Many of our young people are eager to work abroad, and it is our priority to ensure that this process is safe and sustainable,” he added.
