The French-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) celebrated its 20th anniversary at the Hilton hotel in Sofia on Tuesday evening. The event was attended by members of the Bulgarian Government, diplomats, heads of bilateral chambers of commerce and representatives of the business community in Bulgaria. Among those present was Yordanka Chobanova, Head of the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria,.
"The potential of French companies is enormous, especially in the energy, infrastructure, defence and other strategic sectors, which today are particularly important for Bulgaria and its development," said FBCCI President Stephane Delahaye.
Delahaye pointed out that the event celebrates two anniversaries simultaneously - along with the anniversary of the FBCCI, it also marks 30 years since the establishment of the Chamber's predecessor, the France-Bulgaria Business Club.
"French companies provide us with high-tech technologies that help us secure our energy supply and support us in future investments - Framatom, Veolia, are two of the names of companies we interact very well with," said Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov, who was among the dignitaries at the event. He expressed hope to see Framatom as a bidder in future tenders around the new units at Kozloduy NPP.
Stephanie Petitbon, First Counsellor at the French Embassy, also delivered a welcome address on the anniversary of the establishment of FBCCI.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) President Tsvetan Simeonov presented Delahaye with a BCCI anniversary medal and a certificate.
On the eve of its twentieth anniversary, the FBCCI boasted nearly 350 members, employing more than 10,000 employees.
