Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh met with French Ambassador to Bulgaria Joel Meyer, the Ministry's press centre said on Monday. They discussed the development of tourist relations between the two countries and the opportunities for more active positioning of Bulgaria on the French tourist market.

"French tourists are very special for us and with the team of the Ministry we have decided to implement a strategic approach to attract them", Borshosh said and explained that a special campaign is being developed to attract French tourists. "In the new digital advertisement, we will present opportunities for nature, cultural and historical, rural, wine and adventure tourism in our country, simultaneously with the advantages of our tourism product in four seasons," he added.

"The French love Bulgaria, but they do not know it well", Meyer noted and encouraged the creation of a comprehensive marketing strategy aimed specifically at the French market.

Borshosh invited the Ambassador to be a guest at the upcoming 9th Global Wine Tourism Conference in Plovdiv and drew attention to Bulgaria's potential to position itself as a global destination for wine and gastronomy tourism. "We expect experts in the field from France as a significant destination in this niche segment," he said.

Meyer invited the Minister to participate in a special initiative aimed at promoting Bulgaria as a destination for tourism, business and investment. "Bulgaria's Day in Paris" will take place on June 19 and is organized by the embassies of the two countries in partnership with the Bulgaria Wants You platform.

At the end of the meeting, Borshosh announced that actions will be taken to promote the adaptation of information about Bulgarian tourist sites to a francophone audience.
