In October 2025, the monthly inflation rate was 0.9% and the annual inflation rate in October 2025, compared to October 2024, was 5.3%, according to data released by the National Statistical Institute (NSI) on Monday.

The inflation rate since the beginning of the year, October 2025 compared to December 2024, was 4.3%, and the annual average inflation rate for the period November 2024 - October 2025 compared to the period November 2023 - October 2024 was 4.1%, the NSI said.

In October 2025, the monthly inflation rate, measured by the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP), was 0.4% and the annual inflation rate in October 2025 compared to October 2024 was 3.8%.

The inflation rate since the beginning of the year, October 2025 compared to December 2024, was 3.2%, and the annual average inflation rate for the period November 2024 - October 2025 compared to the period November 2023 - October 2024 was 3.3%.

The HICP is the comparable measure of inflation across EU Member States. It is one of the criteria for price stability and the readiness of Bulgaria to join the Eurozone.

In October 2024, monthly inflation, as measured by the consumer price index (CPI), was 1.1%, annual inflation was 1.8%, and average annual inflation, measured by the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for the period November 2023 - October 2024 compared to the period November 2022 - October 2023, was 3.1%, according to data from the NSI.

The accumulated inflation, measured by CPI, for the last three years, October 2025 compared to October 2022, was 13.5% and for the last five years, October 2025 compared to October 2020, was 41.5%.

For over two years (29 months), annual inflation (CPI) in Bulgaria has been in single digits with a downward trend, according to data from the NSI. In June 2023, it fell to single digits (8.7%) for the first time since January 2022, when it stood at 9.1%. Inflation in the country peaked in September 2022, when it reached 18.7% (CPI) on an annual basis.

In October 2025, the prices of goods and services decreased in the following consumer groups: transport - a decrease of 0.2%; furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house - a decrease of 0.2%.

The prices of goods and services increased in the following consumer groups: clothing and footwear - an increase of 7.1%; recreation and culture - an increase of 5.5%; education - an increase of 1.1%; alcoholic beverages and tobacco - an increase of 0.5%; food and non-alcoholic beverages - an increase of 0.3%; health - an increase of 0.2%; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels - an increase of 0.2%; communications - an increase of 0.1%; miscellaneous goods and services - an increase of 0.1%.

The prices of the goods and services in the consumer group restaurants and hotels remained unchanged, the NSI data shows.
