Kozloduy NPP – New Builds EAD and four Bulgarian universities signed framework agreements which will see them cooperate in staffing future projects. Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov attended the signing ceremony, his Ministry announced on Tuesday.
The Ministry adds that the construction of new units at the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, small modular reactors and gigafactories for artificial intelligence are among the key projects for developing the energy sector and require highly trained and motivated young people. Minister Stankov added that the best candidates can be identified by working closely with universities and encouraging them to work in and for Bulgaria.
The signing ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Education and Science, Krasimir Valchev, executive directors of energy companies, and other officials. The framework agreements with the Technical University of Sofia, the Technical University of Varna, the Angel Kanchev University of Ruse and the Technical University of Gabrovo will create opportunities for students to study for bachelor's and master's degrees in areas that are priorities for Kozloduy NPP – New Capacities EAD, including Electrical Power Engineering and Electrical Equipment, Automation, Robotics and Computer Control Systems, and Automation, Information and Control Engineering, among others.
The Minister of Education and Science, Krasimir Valchev, emphasized the government's policy of aligning the needs of the labour market with those of companies, citing the increased enrolment of students in technical universities as an example. He said that with additional admissions, scholarships and other opportunities, they students are encouraged to choose technical majors for their career development as much as possible, thus responding to the growing needs of the economy.
