Joint efforts at European level to complement national reforms provide a vision, tools and cooperation mechanisms to achieve the full potential of European and national vocational education and training, said Education and Science Minister's Chef de Cabinet Tanya Mihaylova in Herning, Denmark. She was speaking at a meeting of ministers responsible for vocational education and training from EU Member States, which took place within the Danish EU Council Presidency, the Education Ministry reported Thursday.

The participants in the meeting adopted a Herning Declaration on Attractive and Inclusive Vocational Education and Training for increased competitiveness and quality jobs 2026-2030.

In her speech, Mihaylova also said that European-level policies are already being reflected in national policies and regulatory changes in Bulgaria - changes to the Vocational Education and Training Act in Bulgaria enable all citizens to achieve personal and professional fulfilment.

All participants agreed that better vocational education and training will make Europe stronger because it is a way to provide broad opportunities, flexibility, social mobility and prosperity.

It was noted that vocational education and training could be made more attractive through early career guidance and the presentation of professions in primary and secondary education, reforms in curricula, practical skills and internship and apprenticeship programmes in a real working environment, teacher training, promoting the benefits of such training among parents, cooperation between educational institutions and businesses, and expanding the scope of programmes at higher qualification levels.
