site.btaBulgarian Tourist Union Is Working on Mobile App, BTU Chair Says

The Bulgarian Tourist Union (BTU) is preparing a very comprehensive application, which will be completed in its entirety soon, BTU Chair Ventsislav Venev said Monday during a presentation of the latest issue of LIK, BTA's magazine for art and culture. The launch event was part of the "Price of Success" section of the forum.
Venev noted that the app will be available for smartphones and will be called the National Tourist Portal. It will offer a digital interactive map of Bulgaria, on which all natural, cultural and historical landmarks and sites will be marked. Thus, everyone will have the opportunity to find nearby interesting sites.
The application will also provide information on cultural events, Venev said. “We hope to work with theatres, community centres and other cultural institutions so that their events are also reflected in the application,” he noted, adding that the application will also include details on whether the event is free, and there will be a link to the website of the respective event.
LIK has dedicated its August issue to the 130th anniversary of organzed tourism in Bulgaria. It highlights one of the emblematic initiatives of the Bulgarian Tourist Union, the “Get to Know Bulgaria – 100 National Tourist Sites” movement. The initiative spans a wide range of natural, historical, cultural, and archaeological landmarks, their number being 242 as of 2024, with each presented in LIK’s August issue.
