Sofia University to Host 62nd Summer Seminar of Bulgarian Language for Foreigners from July 13

The 62nd Summer Seminar of Bulgarian Language and Culture for Foreign Scholars and Students, hosted by Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski between July 13 and August 2, will gather more than 80 students, professors and translators from 26 countries, the University reported on its Facebook page.

Participants are expected from Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Czechia, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Moldova, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, South Korea, Turkiye, Ukraine, the UK, the US.

The programme includes practical Bulgarian language study, theoretical seminars on Bulgarian language and translation, Bulgarian literature and cultural anthropology, as well as study of Bulgarian folk songs and dances. Participants can also meet the writers Teodora Dimova and Georgi Gospodinov.

The Summer Seminar of Bulgarian Language and Culture for Foreign Scholars and Students is one of Sofia University's oldest initiatives. Its inaugural edition took place in 1962. Since then, more than 6,000 students and teachers from universities in Europe, Asia and America have taken part in it.

The forum is organized with the financial support of the Ministry of Education and Science and Sofia University.
