The Ministry of Culture and Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) started working together to find a sustainable solution on the funding mechanisms for the state radio music ensembles, the Ministry said in a press release on Thursday.
Proposals for legislative amendments were discussed in a series of meetings, including the one held on 25 June between Deputy Culture Minister Georgi Sultanov and BNR Director General Milen Mitev. The meetings aim to provide better working conditions for the employees at the BNR music ensembles.
BNR is home to some of the most prestigious music ensembles in Bulgaria – the Symphony Orchestra, Big Band, Folk Orchestra, Mixed Choir, Children’s Choir, and Radiokids vocal group.
The meetings also focused on the cultural and historical heritage preserved in BNR’s Golden Fund. The fund includes music, interviews with renowned people, as well as sound archives of all meetings of the National Assembly since 1989.
The Culture Ministry and BNR united around the idea of equality between state radio musicians и other artists and performers in state cultural establishments.
