The Francofolies de Bulgarie 2025 International Festival began here on Friday, the Bulgarian Tourism Ministry said in a press release.
Hosted by Plovdiv's Canoe and Rowing Centre, the June 20-22 event is part of the Francofolies international chain and is taking place in seven countries. The established international format pools culture, education and tourism.
ZAZ, IN-GRID, GipsyKings, Master KG, Alexandra Stan and Lili Ivanova are among the global and Bulgarian performers on the Festival's varied music programme. On the sidelines, there are gourmet zones, an arts and crafts bazaar, and activities for children. The Francofolie Youth Module brings together 100 pupils aged 16 to 19 from the French-language secondary schools countrywide. The module gives young people a venue to share ideas, knowledge and energy in French-language debates on subjects concerning universal human and common European values.
"Such events are key to the growth of festival and cultural tourism in Bulgaria," said Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh. "They diversify the cultural calendar, attract new audiences, and contribute to the country's positive image as a modern and hospitable destination. The Ministry of Tourism will continue to support initiatives combining creative, culture, and international presence," Borshosh said, quoted in his Ministry's press release.
