The Munich Leaders Meeting in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, brought together senior officials and policy figures to discuss energy security and Europe-Middle East cooperation, with Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev taking part on Wednesday.
“Bulgaria is committed to a vision of a connected, predictable, and sustainable energy environment,” Georgiev said, highlighting the country’s role in diversifying European supply routes. He added that Bulgaria offers a stable framework for investment across energy, innovation, high technology, and logistics.
In talks with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal bin Fadhil Alibrahim, Georgiev said “Bulgaria and Saudi Arabia have a significant untapped potential for economic partnership, which we must turn into tangible bilateral projects.” He noted the importance of convening a first meeting of the Mixed Committee for Economic Cooperation and floated a joint business and investment forum. For his part, Alibrahim said Saudi Arabia sees scope to expand work with Bulgaria in energy, defence and security, advanced technologies, unmanned systems, and healthcare.
Georgiev also met Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, expressing gratitude for Jordan’s assistance in evacuating Bulgarian citizens and an elderly Palestinian woman from Gaza on September 29. “Bulgaria highly values the open and constructive exchange with Jordan and is ready to work together for even stronger and mutually beneficial cooperation,” Georgiev said, proposing a business forum in Amman to stimulate trade. Safadi said Jordan values its friendship with Bulgaria and is ready to deepen cooperation in areas that contribute to stability and prosperity.
