site.btaSofia Puppet Theatre Goes on Tour in Japan

The Sofia Puppet Theatre is going on tour in Japan, in collaboration with local PUK Puppet Theatre, the Bulgarian Embassy in Tokyo said on Facebook. The tour is supported by the Bulgarian diplomatic service in Tokyo.

Actors from Sofia Puppet Theatre will present the bilingual play The Story of a Seagull and the Gang of Tomcats [available in English as The Story of a Seagull and the Cat Who Taught Her to Fly], directed by Katya Petrova. There will be a total of 33 shows, in 13 Japanese locations, including Tokyo, Hiroshima, Yokohama, Okayama and Fukuoka.

In addition to the play, during the tour Japanese audiences will have the opportunity to watch the film A Lesson in Flying, dedicated to the relationship and cultural exchange between the Sofia Puppet Theatre and PUK Theatre. The film explores the creative process of Japanese and Bulgarian artists and producers coming together to produce of The Story of a Seagull and the Gang of Tomcats.
