site.bta“Windless” Named Best Feature Film at Vasil Gendov Awards


Windless received the Best Feature Film award at the national festival of Bulgarian cinema “Vasil Gendov”. The film was directed by Pavel G. Vesnakov, with Ognyan “FYRE” Pavlov and Veselin Petrov in the lead. The statuette was presented to the team by a special guest - Russian film director Andrey Zvyagintsev.
The winners were determined by four professional juries evaluating four categories of cinema: feature, documentary, short, and animation. The ceremony was hosted by actor Daniel Varbanov.
Director Ivan Nitchev received the award for lifetime achievement. “Think of your loved ones, because you owe your success to the people next to you,” he said.
The Best Actress award went to actress Maria Bakalova and her role in the film Triumph directed by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov. The prize for the best leading male role was awarded to Ognyan “FYRE” Pavlov for Windless.
The jury could not come to an agreement which work deserves the award for best debut, and no one received the statuette in this category.
Actress Eleonora Ivanova grabbed the statuette for best female supporting role in The Platform. Julian Vergov, Lyubomir Neikov, George Zlatarev, Robert Yanakiev and Stefan Denolyubov were awarded for best male supporting role for Class 90.
The awards for best director and best animated film went to Mira Yankova and her film Disturbia.
For the first time, a special award of the Sofia Municipality was given for a film of social significance. The prize was awarded to School for Hope, directed by Yana Alexieva.
The award ceremony distinguished films in 30 other categories.
