site.btaSchool Workers Urge for End of Sofia Surface Transport Strike as It Limits Children's Right to Education

Children's right to education and the right of adults to access to the workplace is limited, reads a position paper of the Union of the Heads of the National Education System in Bulgaria (UHNESB) sent to the media on Friday.
"For the third day Sofia has no public transport. Thousands of students cannot go to school. Thousands of teachers and non-teaching staff have difficulty getting to their workplaces," the school workers added.
"There are final exams, the end of the school year. The futures of thousands of children and families are at stake," reads the position signed by Danko Kalapish, regional president of the UHNESB's capital organization. He addresses the drivers and leaders of the protest, adding that the union respects the rights of the protesters, but at the same time urges transportation workers to respect the rights of education workers.
No one has the right to steal children's future, Kalapish wrote.
Sofia’s surface-transport strike under the slogan “Decent Work – Decent Pay! No Transport, No Economy!” continues for a third consecutive day on Friday.
