The national libraries of Bulgaria and Moldova signed a memorandum of cooperation on Friday. The ceremony took place at the Sts Cyril and Methodius National Library (CMNL) in Sofia, where a Moldovan book corner was unveiled during the National Library Week.

Elena Pintilei, Director General of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova and President of the country’s Association of Librarians, Victoria Goreainov, Consul of Moldova in Bulgaria, and Kalina Ivanova, Director of CMNL, attended the signing of the memorandum.

Pintilei thanked CMNL for the cooperation and said that the management of her country’s national library is impressed by the work of the Bulgarian institution.

Consul Goreainov described the Moldovan Book Corner as a bridge between two nations with rich history and tradition that have upheld common values and mutual respect over the years. The Book Corner provides access to Moldovan literature, culture and knowledge for the Moldovan community in Bulgaria and anyone interested in discovering the beauty and the wealth of the Romanian language and culture, she said.
