Donkey and mare cheese, in addition to the standard goat, cow and sheep cheese, will be presented within the framework of the two-day Bulgarian cheese and dairy products festival, organized by the Vratsa Municipality for the first time.
For visitors on Saturday morning, a Vratsa breakfast with mekitsi [sweet breakfast pastry] and cheese were prepared on the square in front of the administration building. Demonstrations of making white brined cheese, a master class with chef Svetlana Ilieva, a competition for the most delicious lyutika [traditional red pepper relish] and a competition for paintings of dairy products are part of the planned events.
There will also be a bazaar with Bulgarian cheeses, traditional sweets, wines and ecological products. For the first time, the administration will award the producer who collected the most votes from consumers who have tried the offered products.
Opportunities for project proposals for farmers and processors will be presented at a scientific forum, part of the programme. Presentations about donkey milk and Bulgarian dairy will be part of the event. The festival also includes concerts by Rumyana Popova, Raina and the Pirin duo.
The event is organized by the Bulgarian Traditional Dairy Products Association, with the financial support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Municipality of Vratsa.
