Parliament Speaker Natalia Kiselova extended her condolences to the family of renowned journalist Daniela Kaneva, said the parliamentary press office. "I, like hundreds of thousands of television viewers, through her journalistic work, was able to experience the Far East and discover new worlds and cultural layers," said Kiselova.
Daniela Kaneva passed away at the age of 87, as confirmed for BTA earlier Wednesday by her niece, Lidiya Kaneva, to the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).
"Known for her deep knowledge of Japanese and Indian culture, Kaneva began her career at BTA and became the first foreign journalist accredited in Japan," said the Parliament leader and goes on to define Kaneva as "one of the most distinguished figures in Bulgarian National Television". She praised her insightful interviews with world leaders and her role in strengthening Bulgarian-Japanese diplomatic ties.
Kaneva's funeral will be held on April 27 at the Church of the Seven Saints in Sofia.
